What is the social or environmental issue being addressed?
Millions of children struggle with speech sound disorders, yet families face long waitlists, high therapy costs, and limited access, especially in rural and underserved communities. These barriers delay early intervention, harm academic performance, and affect a child’s confidence, social development, and long-term outcomes. Traditional therapy often offers only weekly sessions, leaving children without meaningful daily practice. School-based speech-language pathologists are overloaded, managing caseloads far beyond recommended limits. Sara Technology addresses this inequity by expanding access to high-quality, affordable, and consistent articulation therapy, ensuring that every child — regardless of income, geography, or school resources — can be understood.
Innovation:
Sara Technology combines evidence-based articulation therapy with AI-driven personalization to create a scalable, home- and school-friendly intervention. The app analyzes children’s speech in real time, adapts exercises to individual needs, and generates automated progress reports for parents and speech-language pathologists. By digitizing traditionally manual tasks and replacing static worksheets with dynamic feedback, Sara dramatically increases practice frequency and treatment consistency. Its HIPAA- and FERPA-aligned design enables seamless use across clinics, schools, and home settings. This innovation brings clinically informed therapy to families who otherwise lack access while helping professionals manage growing caseloads with greater efficiency.
