Columbia University’s Provost and Government and Community Affairs Offices, along with its Schools of Social Work, Columbia Business School, Columbia Law School, and the Mailman School of Public Health, invite you to our Fall Policy Forum for Elected and Appointed Officials on November 21, 2013.

This invitation-only event will convene Columbia faculty working on issues relevant to public policy with direct implications for our city, state and nation. The Forum will feature an exchange of views and discussion balanced from a cross section of panelists presenting research, hard data, insights and policy oriented solutions. Forum participants have the option to attend:

 

Session One

Columbia’s School of Social Work examining the implementation and impacts of healthcare reform.

Session Two

David Schizer, Dean of Columbia Law School and co-director of the Richman Center, and Tom Merrill, Professor at Columbia Law School, assess the adequacy of the current regulatory environment around hydraulic fracturing - “fracking”- in New York and beyond. To preview their argument, please read their paper, "The Shale Oil and Gas Revolution, Hydraulic Fracturing, and Water Contamination: A Regulatory Strategy."

Session Three

Faculty and practitioners at the Mailman School of Public Health studying intervention and policy approaches for children and youth affected by the criminal justice system.
